For those of you unfamiliar with RJoy, it is a life changing organization that promotes social, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being through music. In tangible terms, among other things, it means that through RJoy's music therapy, Alzheimer's patients who otherwise are rendered silent by the disease may sing entire songs. It means that people frozen by Parkinson's Disease may tap their feet. Children in the neonatal and critical care units of hospitals who receive music therapy may have a reduced need for anesthesia, among other physiological benefits. And RJoy is providing meaningful healing and comfort to those who suffer brain injury and trauma, including to our military returning from combat.
